Annual Festivals

Sri Sri Sri Jagadguru Pushpagiri Maha Samsthanam celebrates various auspicious events round the year.

Some of the major events include:

Navaraatras

Two special Navaratra events are held every year. One is Ganapati Navaratras in the auspicious month of Bhadrapada and the other is Sharannavaratras in the month of Aswayuja. Sharannavaratras are held in a large scale with each day dedicated to one form of Goddess. Likewise, priests and Vedic scholars do the Avarana pooja, Tapas and parayana on every day and finally Poorna Huti will be held on the 9th day of the event. On the last day, a special pooja called Yogini pooja is done, where a person dressed in the attire of one form of Goddess Kali will be offered pooja and everyone will praise the Goddes by dancing around. On the Dasami i.e. last day of Dussehra, Raja Darbar is held reflecting the Raja Peetham status of Pushpagiri Maha Samsthanam. Part of this event, Sri Peethadhipatul will be dressed with all gold and precious ornaments like a king and will address the devotees offering them the blessings.

Guru Purnima:

Appears in the month of Ashada. On this day, the great seer and the prominent figure in Guru Paramparam of Sanathan Dharma Veda Vyasa is worshipped. This Vyasa pooja is very imp and it coincides with the beginning of ‘Charyurmaasya Deeksha’ of Sri Swamiji.

Sankara Jayanthi:

Celebrated in the auspicious month of Vaishaka, this event marks the birth of Jagadguru Adi Sankaracharya and is celebrated on a grand scale by pulling chariot, Annadaanam, among other aactivities

Nrusimha Jayanti:

Celebrated in the month of Vaishaka, this day marks the birth of Nrusimha Swami. On this day, Abhishekam is held to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy idol in the Peetham.

Datta Jayanti:

Celebrated in the month of Margasiram, this event marks the birth of Lord Dattatreya. On this day, Abhishekam is performed to the idol of Lord Dattatreya.

Shiva Ratri:

Celebrated in the auspicious month of Magha/Phalgun, the event marks the emergence of Jyotirlingam. On this day, continuous Rudraabhishek is performed to the Spathik Ling throught out the day from morning to until midnight 12 AM, the time where Jyotirling is believd to have appeared i.e., Lingodbhava Kalam.

Apart from these major festivals, various other events like Sri Rama Navami, Hanuma Jayanti, Sudarshana Homam, Sankasta Hara Chaturthi, and various other rituals, homas and japams for the wellbeing of the world i.e., Loka Kalyanam are held in Pushpagiri Peetham round the year.
